Alberta has had enough of Ottawa’s meddling.
This past legislative session, Brooks-Medicine Hat MLA and Chair of the Alberta Firearms Advisory Committee Michaela Glasgo tabled Bill 211, in response to the federal government’s proposed plan to allow municipalities to ban certain kinds of firearms.
Bill 211 amends the Municipal Government Act to state that municipalities do not have the power to pass laws on firearms unless authorized by the province.
This is a proactive step to protect the rights of responsible Alberta firearms owners, similar to legislation recently passed in Saskatchewan.
